Biography

My philosophy of teaching is to engage students in deep examination of nursing theory and research using a variety of teaching styles and techniques. I work hard to incorporate many innovative, challenging, and creative methods in my instruction so that students can relate concepts and apply them to their nursing practice. The philosophy of the nursing program is to create a co-learning environment---this type of environment is exciting and invigorating for the students and faculty! Health promotion and disease prevention are central concepts in my nursing practice and research in the community setting. I have a strong interest in researching the health behaviors of communities, especially in the area of obesity, poverty and physical activity.
