SVSU INTERNAL GRANTS FOR FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

Allen Foundation Student/Faculty Research Grant supports student and faculty research that provides intellectual opportunities to address various health and nutritional issues facing the region and the world. Funds 2-year projects.

CETL – Department Innovation Award supports innovative department projects to improve teaching or other department practices related to student learning and success. Proposals are accepted from all departments. Due by 4:30 March 15 annually or the next business day if falls on the weekend.

CETL – Dow Professor Award supports academic and pedagogical innovation projects that enhance student learning.

Faculty Research and Professional Growth Awards were created to encourage and promote scholarship, advanced studies, and research among SVSU faculty. In consultation with the president of the Faculty Association and the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, University Unit Committees review faculty proposals and recommend funding and release time allocations to support faculty research and professional growth.

Frahm Agricultural Research Grant supports students and faculty in agricultural research and add to the growing body of information archived by the Saginaw County Agricultural Society that will be housed at the agricultural museum. The Society already has an impressive collection of antique tools and equipment and is striving to both centralize and increase this important collection of artifacts and informational materials.

Judith Kerman Faculty Teaching, and Mentoring Prize in Technology and Culture Intended to recognize the important relationship – for the benefit of students and their university success-between teaching, classroom learning, and mentorship through research opportunities in the significance of technology from a humanities perspective. Due by 4:30 March 15 yearly or next business day if the due date falls on the weekend.

Sabbatical Leave is granted by the SVSU Board of Control. Professors are eligible to apply for sabbatical leave upon six consecutive years of service to the University.

Saginaw Bay Environmental Science Institute grant facilitate seed projects involving scientific research focused on the Saginaw Bay Watershed (e.g. water quality, pollution, land use, wildlife health/habitat, environmental/public health, geospatial characterization). Eligibility: SVSU faculty and staff – preference will be given to those who are actively involved in the Saginaw Bay ESI.

Special Collections/Facilities Research Grants support research using materials that are otherwise not accessible and conducted at special collections at a recognized museum(s), library(ies), archive(s), university(ies), or other special facilities leading to publication or presentation.

SVSU College of Business and Management Family Business Research Grant supports the increase of breadth and depth of collective knowledge on family business issues and strengthens the SVSU brand within the larger family business community and the broader academic community.

SVSU College of Education Research Award provides seed money designated to support research and stimulate the submission of proposals to other agencies for external funding.

SVSU Faculty-led Undergraduate Research Grant provides faculty with the opportunity to expand the capacity of their research while simultaneously mentoring undergraduate students in effective research strategies.

SVSU Foundation Community Engagement Grant encourages students, faculty, and staff to form partnerships with community organizations and develop projects that will directly benefit the people of our region.

SVSU Foundation Resource Grants enhance scholarship, further the academic and cultural missions of the University, and/or have significant impact on the University community for projects and programs which directly benefit and involve SVSU students. The evaluation committee includes appointed community members from the SVSU Foundation Board. SVSU Allen Foundation Student/Faculty Research Grants support student/faculty research that addresses various health and nutritional issues facing the region.

SVSU Graduate Travel Grant provides graduate students funding to travel to academic and professional conferences to present their original research.

SVSU Student-led Undergraduate Research Grant provides students with the opportunity to conduct their own research, with the support of a faculty mentor.

SVSU Undergraduate Travel Grant provides students with funding to travel to academic and professional conferences to present their original research.

Undergraduate Mini Student-led Research grant provides a small amount of seed money for students to initiate their own research. Students in all disciplines are eligible with the support of a faculty mentor. Projects can receive funding up to $250.
